The Ouroboros Dragon and the EagleThe Nature of Power: The paradox of strength—that ultimate dominance often leads to self-destruction.

A cartoon scene showing a yellow character hanging from a red loop in the sky.

In Mesoamerican culture, Quetzalcoatl, once honored as a deity, later appears subdued by an eagle.

By transforming these mythical figures into both sources of awe and targets of conquest we subvert our fears and assert agency over nature.

Similarly, European dragons, initially powerful symbols, are frequently depicted being vanquished or self-devouring.

A person wearing a green balaclava mask with face holes visible, holding a small object in their hand, in front of a drawing of a bird with a crown, wings, and a long neck, set against a blue background.

Open sketchbook with images and sketches related to Egyptian mythology, including a painted sculpture of a two-headed bird, printed images of a landscape with mountains, and various drawings of Egyptian symbols and figures. The bottom row contains close-up images of a painted bird sculpture, a colorful bird artwork, and a sketch of a person with additional sketches and photos.
Each painting starts in this sketchbook where I gather ideas and inspiration from art history, design, pop culture and ephemera. From these images an idea is revealed and an initial sketch is made alongside the collage.
